This show is a failure for the reason you point out; viewers are getting no context of how the NFL is about schemes and game-planning. Our coaches walk around preaching effort and execution leaving the viewers with a false impression of what it takes to win. We're getting no view of the game-planning and the review of the failed game-plans.
I agree Garrett is worse than we thought. Princeton-educated but clueless. He's like a caricature preaching character and accountability but holding no one accountable (except the practice squad that he ripped for 10 minutes). He is 100% rooted in that culture of believing only in the tried and true, old school tactics, tired thoughts. I just don't understand why Jerry and Stephen don't see it. I guess the reason may be that they won 3 Super Bowls running the lead-draw to Emmitt Smith 25 times a game 25 years ago.
I also agree that Elliott is a low-character dude who I hate to rely on - even though he has the goods. Dez, no surprise. Witten, no surprise. Really the show is pretty boring and disappointing. They show off the Cowboys shiny facilities and Jerry's helicopter a lot. Unfortunately not a lot to see.
