ANDY REID

How good is this guy?   14 years 9 playoffs. 5 title games.
(One huge blunder when he left his star QB in with a concussion at the Super Bowl.)

I think he is really a great coach, but with the Chargers improving and Denver a SB favorite he will need to really do something special to make the playoffs.

3 - 0 in Kansas City.
Kansas City was 2-14 last year for the second time in the last 5 years.

PS Chip Kelley.  Michael Vick is inaccurate!

Mullen has lost his mind.

An Ole Miss fan sent this to me:

"After the loss last Saturday, I was on the flight back to Starkville, and I was reading the SixPackSpeak message board, like I usually do following a game," Mullen told reporters in a special news conference this afternoon.  "As I read the repeated calls for my firing, Les' firing, and the general disdain for our offensive gameplan in the second half, I thought: what would these guys do if they had the chance to actually make those calls?"

"So after giving it some thought, I decided, why not give them that chance.  This Saturday, we're letting fans call the second half plays."

Starting in the third quarter, fans will look to the jumbotron in the south endzone before each play that MSU runs on offense.  There they will find a list of four plays that Offensive Coordinator Les Koenning and Head Coach Dan Mullen are considering calling.  From that list, fans will be able, through their CSpireTM powered device, to choose the play that they want seen called.  Voting will take place from the time the play clock resets to when there are 25 seconds remaining.  Should MSU have to go into a hurry-up offense mode, the number of plays available for fan voting will be reduced to two.

Honey Badger

I don't know how he does it, but nothing changed.

As a backup, he is second on the team in tackles and forced the fumble that won the game in week 1.

Texas A&M Money Men.

I had posted prior to the Aggie's joining the SEC that the school had more endowment funds than all of the other SEC schools combined.

Then a couple of days ago the Morning news posted the amount of Money that was raised at College Station during the last year of the SEC, Sumlin and JOHNNY FOOTBALL.

The Aggie's raised $740 Million, a 70% increase from Sept 2012 thru Aug 2013
 ($559Million increase)

This is insane!

I saw where Saban increase Bama from $90Million to $120 in his first year as a point of reference.

I would offer Sumlin an $8 million a year contract today and make him too expensive for the NFL to go after a minority coach with an imaginative offense and great personality.

20 Reasons to Praise Football

I cannot even explain how much I enjoy the college football season.

1.  I hope Ole Miss goes 10-2, which is impossible, but would be a blast and make H Freeze the next Longhorn Head Coach.
2.  Mack Brown-  It is too hard to even say again and again.  Gray is better than Malcom Brown!!!
3.  USC- Too much Talent for this output.  Kiffing is worse than I thought. With UCLA and their great Soph QB, it is going to be fun in LA.
4. Muschamp is the new Les Miles.  Great talent with no offensive identity.  They dominated Miami and couldn't win.  Hardest team for me to watch in College.
5. Arkansas is pounding the ball with the new Coach.  Well here comes the real men also known as the SEC.   If he can win, he deserves a pay raise.  It will not happen anytime soon.
6. Auburn- I like the coach as you know. If he is able to maintain a positive atmosphere after they start losing he will be a great coach.
7. MSTATE- Coach Mullen has lost his mind.  Lucky for him that, Haughton product, Prescott was given a chance to play because of an injury and maybe Mullen cannot ignore the truth about which QB makes his team work better.
8.  Ohio State- Does Meyer ever lose when he isn't playing Saban or Miles.
9.   Oregon- Stanford and UCLA hopefully will put a dent in this team to give them one loss.
10. Big 12- Art Briles to Austin?  League looks bad.
11. ACC - Again have the 2nd most NFL caliber players and it seems the coaches have improved enough to finally make an impact nationally.
12.  LSU-BAMA Game   It matters like Death and Taxes.
13.  Cam Cameron makes those incredible WR's at LSU important.  Please make Les not get too involved when he gets nervous.  While  you are there tell him Hill and Magee should get 30 carries a game.  Hillard and Blue 5 combined.
14.  Ga still frustrates me with the inconsistency.
15. Spurrier is still my hero.
16.  Michigan - ND 115000 people, when is too big an issue.
17.  Leach at Wash St is 2-1 losing at Auburn but beating the brat, as Bill King calls him, at USC
18.   Bama play Vandy-Tenn in SEC non-conf.
19.  Aggies play Misso-Kentucky
20.  LSU remaining schedule-  OUCH.  Georgia, Florida, Bama,Ole Miss, Aggies.
Any talk of tougher schedule is a homer for another conference.

20A.  Did I mention Manziel is fun to watch.

JFF

During the last half century, I have only seen a four players that truly controlled football games. I must admit that Johnny Manziel qualifies and is as electric as any player that I have seen.

He is great.  Quickness, Vision, Toughness with Accuracy is just SPECIAL.

(S, you said it best.)
While Sumlin and the Aggie administration is waking up this sleeping giant in College Station.  Manziel has made the Aggies a national contender with his unique abilities on a team with below LSU, BAMA, GA, FLA or even South Carolina talent.

The last two QB's I saw do this:
1. Cam Newton- Undefeated NC with 5th best talent in SEC.
2. Doug Flutie- I have compared JFF to him since I watched the Fla game last year.  This is as big a compliment as I can give a player. He beat Bama his freshman year and I hated him, but the play never died with Flutie.
3. I don't have the vivid memories of Archie Manning, but I do think of him as the best College QB I had ever seen until Flutie.

I would have loved to have seen Roger "The Dodger" Staubach at Navy and Fran Tarkenton at GA.

Tebow, Frazier and Young were great, but they did not do these things with less talent than the opposition. Newton, Flutie and JFF win despite the talent.

Only Dorsett, Walker and Campbell were close to dominating a season from the RB position. Earl lost his NC to the Irish and it hurts to remember.

I will enjoy every game until Manziel leaves and I want it to be this year.
He is killing the LSU recruiting base.

Bo Pelini cannot hide his stripes

I haven't made many positive post on Manic Bo, even while at LSU.

This made me laugh:
"Our crowd. What a bunch of f------ fair-weather f------ — they can all kiss my ass out the f------ door. 'Cause the day is f------ coming now. We'll see what they can do when I'm f------ gone."

Then Tommie Frazier made a comment that Bo needed to go.
Bo in his fashion then upset more Huskers fans with this.

"Since I came back here, I've embraced former players," Pelini said. "If he feels like that, then so be it. We don't need him. That's a shame. Until you've sat in this seat, until you've sat here and done it, anybody can have an opinion. It's easy to point fingers when you stand outside and throw stones. So I just take it for what it is."

Bo really didn't do anything bad with Frazier, but Tommie Boy is a well earned hero. Nebraska fans are truly great, but they do live too much with the "Osborne steroid and recruiting anyone past."

I just listened to him on Bill King and Bo can't apologize and sound sincere, he doesn't seem to understand how.

Romobilized

Sometimes being correct about the Cowboys gives me a stomach ache.

Romo was not healed from the start of the season.  A new throwing motion with less velocity and less accuracy is bothersome news for 2013 (and this was prior to the bruised Ribs against the Giants.)
The Boys look like the "same ole same ole" as related to the rest of the league.
8-8 seems about right if Romo's back improves during the year.

Offense:    I was upset with myself during the first quarter vs. the Giants when I had forgotten that part of the news conference announcing Bill Callahan.  The most important and disappointing parts was the comment that went like this.
" We will run the same offense, I will just help with play calling"
How did I miss it?  The same offense that Ed Reed and others made comments about being surprising simplistic!

The equation=Run into the line twice then pray for Romo on 3rd down.  If your behind turn Romo loose in the 2 min offense and score. Well if Romo is inaccurate, they will not win 9 games.

Defense:  It looks better, I am not sold on the coverage when a team spreads the field.  Eli seemed to throw at will when he went to a hurry up.
Ware is hidden on the corner so far, the positive is Lee, Carter and Church are flying to the ball.
