DFW All-Area Hoops Team

Wow, today's all-area high school hoops team featured the following: 2 McDonalds All-Americans and 3 juniors who are all ranked in the top 28 players in the nation for the class of 2013.  I've got to get out more and see these players.  The talent here is just through the roof.

MARCUS SMART
Flower Mound Marcus, Sr., G, 6-4

Stats: Averaged 14 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists. Smart led FM Marcus to back-to-back 5A state championships.

Did you know? A McDonald’s All-American committed to Oklahoma State, Smart is the TX 5A player of the year and the 14th ranked national prospect as ranked by Rivals.com.

ISAIAH AUSTIN
Arl. Grace Prep, Sr., C, 7-0

Stats: Averaged 15 points, 11 rebounds, five blocks. Austin helped lead Grace Prep to its second consecutive TAPPS 4A title.

Did you know? A third-team all-area selection last year, Austin has signed with Baylor. He was selected as a McDonald’s All-American. He is already being projected as an NBA first-round draft pick in 2013.

KEITH FRAZIER
Kimball, Jr., G, 6-5

Stats: Averaged 21.7 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.3 assists. Frazier helped Kimball to a second-consecutive 4A state title.

Did you know? Frazier is ranked by Rivals as the nation’s No. 13 prospect in the class of 2013. He has offers from schools such as Kansas, Arizona, Baylor, Texas and UCLA.

MATT JONES
DeSoto, Jr., G, 6-4

Stats: Averaged 18.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists. He shot 54 percent from the field.

Did you know? Jones, Rivals’ No. 28 national player in the class of 2013, has committed to Duke. His DeSoto teams have the made the regional final the last two seasons.

JULIUS RANDLE
Prestonwood, Jr., F, 6-9

Stats: Averaged 21.1 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and helped lead Prestonwood to the TAPPS 5A state championship.

Did you know? Randle is Rivals’ No. 4 national recruit in the class of 2013 and has offers from Kansas, Baylor and Ohio State, among others.

It is an impressive list and the national media is finally noticing what is going on in DFW.

Jones is the only one I didn't see play this year.
