The lack of equality and the setting of a new precedent is my issue with the suspension. In the history of the NFO a head coach has never been suspended for a game- much less a season. The last known issue is Spygate where the coach is also the GM- he received nothing!
I do not want to discount the infractions and the cover up- a punishment was warranted but this takes a teams HC away for 2 drafts and one season. I argue steroids and the use of other drugs in the 70s, 80s, 90s has a bigger effect on injuries than a pool of cash. Known teams abusing this are viewed as GREAT with Hall of fame coaches and players
Goodell is changing precedent with these suspensions- 3 big reasons
1) Lies and coverup
2) Saints arrogance over this time frame
3) Lawsuits from old players
