La High School Basketball

I spent my night watching a Boys HS tournament.

2 LA teams ranked in the national top 100 have high level athletes playing in this tourney.

Two of the top 50 sophomores, as rated by MaxPreps, play for Riverside out of Reserve, La.
6'2 Guard Louis Dabney and 6'7 Ricardo Gather easily dominated Vanderbilt Catholic in the first round game. Gather looks like a muscled up Tony Gonzalez. Dabney is just a smooth all around player.

Christian Life played against Airline and it was a blow out after the 1st quarter.
3 players on Christian Life have signed to play in college.

Langston Galloway (top 100 player) was the best player in the gym tonight he has signed to play at St. Joseph. (6'3 with an outside shot, plays both ends of the floor and has good quickness.

Two others players, Patrick Robinson 6'5 swingman, Northwestern St signee and 6'7 Grambling signee Kaleb Knight were too tall and talented for Airline.
Robinson looks like he has more potential and can shot from the outside. Mike McConathy might have found himself a keeper, he took over the game in the middle of the 2nd quarter.

Airline's super soph pt guard was outclassed in quickness and strength during the game. A positive for Airline is that for a time during the game they had at least 1 Frosh and 2 sophomores playing.

Bossier High will get the winner of Christian Life and Riverside on Saturday.
Soph guard D. Francis, unheralded but the best defense player in the city with explosive quickness will have his hands full. (I think he is the most important player in Shreveport/Bossier, he alters 10 shots or passes a game. He also scores at will in the open court.) His more publicized Junior pg West will have to up his game with the aggression and selflessness on both ends of the court.

These college size players with talent dominated the Bossier Press in the finals last year.

The championship is probably being played on Friday night with the South La teams.

I am glad HS Ball is back.
