My Summary.

This entire diatribe may have some typo's because of the lack of time I spent completing it, so please forgive me.
I really do not want these conference changes to happen, but I might as well enjoy it.
Sports are cyclical if everyone has the same resources, so maybe this is not such a bad thing.

Because of my up bringing watching the SWC and SEC equally, I really hope that the SEC gets Texas A&M and one other Texas team to join.

The Big 10 will once again rise up to rival and sometimes pass the SEC at the top of the polls, but these changes and teams will not allow either conference to truly rival the SEC in overall talent and competition.

I really do not understand why Texas and the Oklahoma schools would join the Pac 10.
They would have been off going north to the Big 10 and staying in the Central time zone.

A couple of other opinions:

16 league Team Breakdowns is a problem with schedules and rivalries.

The Problem:
8 league teams’ means that either a team like Texas or Oklahoma may not see
USC
for a decade. Not exactly a dream for TV producers.
If you play a two year home and home if will take years to get all the way
thru the league.

Options:
4 Divisions-4 teams rotational every 8 years with a round table to maintain
some of the traditional games.

Example from SEC

Florida
Florida State
GA
S Car

Tenn
KY
Vandy
V Tech

LSU
Tex AM
ARK
TCU

ALA
AUB
MISS
MS ST

SWC/Big 8 is sad to see disappear.
I really do not like the whole thing other than the Big 10 moves.
16 team conferences make no sense and kill some rivalries. However- this is driven by finance and every party stands to rake it in (except the Big12)

UT and OU in the PAC does not make sense for those schools but they walk in being the top 2 programs for the conference. PAC would get a coup with these 2 but does it improve UT or OU any- They can get national players anyhow. No real improvement for them.

SEC- Add A&M and Fla State- I miss the A&M LSU games of my youth and Fla State would be great to see in the conference--it makes sense. Baylor is not needed. We have Vandy. I realize you are looking at media markets or do you wish to start the smart school sub conference to bring up the avg GPA (Vandy, Baylor, TCU, GA Tech)

Big 10- driver of the whole thing and what they are doing seems to make sense to me. If they get ND it would be huge for them. I believe it is time for ND to join a conference and the Big 10 is made for them.

Given everything the Big 10 and SEC will continue to be the top 2 and the "PAC16" will be # 3 much like the Big 12 was.
