Alomar passes my smell test, barely for the HOF; 10-time gold glove winner, .300 hitter, over 400 stolen bases, over 500 doubles, 12-time all-star, and was more importantly considered the best 2nd baseman of the era.
Bert Blyleven on the other hand does not, and not even close. 287-250, 3.31 ERA, never led the league in wins, never led the league in ERA, led in strikeouts 1 time. He was never among the best 3,4, or even 5 pitchers in the game at any one time. His 60 shutouts are impressive, but he was not great. He belongs in the "hall of very good".
