Sorry State of American Tennis

I noted this week an article about the fact that no Americans reside in the top 10 in either men's or women's tennis.  How could this happen? Less than a decade since Sampras and Agassi walked away, we don't have a single player of stature in America and no one on the rise either.  And as soon as the Williams sisters call it quits, the same situation will be present on the women's side.  It's a sad state of affairs.

You have touched on a true sign of the TV world. The American tennis media did not learn how sell people on greatness of Sampras. Agassi was the personality and it killed tennis.

Following Sampras they had Federer, who was another dull personality, but with arrogance.

Greatness only goes so far with the all action all the time American market.

Lets face it, Golf won the TV market with Woods vs the Williams sisters. If the Williams' would have been men and had Tigger's work ethic they may have survived.
