Airline Game

Tonight Airline is honoring the undefeated team from 1984 or 85,  I cannot remember the year.
S, I posted this because I know you remember them well.

That team had an NBA player, a sixth man that was leading scorer in state the next year and is currently an asst coach at Texas A&M. And last but not least the most talented player at Airline since McConathy that didn't understand the importance of his actions.  After being Dean Smith and John Thompson he never fulfilled the potential.

It was a well coached team that was a true joy to watch.

That year and the next were the most fun I've ever had watching high school sports. They were not similar to the Carroll team blowing you away with pure talent, but they did have talent and great chemistry and they wore teams down with efficiency and effort. That playoff game remains one of the top 5 worst moments in my life that don't involve death or injury.

The next year was as much fun because Smith and Russell outscored everyone and the race for Smith to hit the coveted 30 pt average plateau was a blast.
