Undermining the NBA

The NBA has amazing athletes and are experiencing a great influx of talent.  But as I watch a little more in preparation for the playoffs, I continue to be amazed at the poor refereeing.  How can we cure Polio, put a man on the moon, and split the atom, but we can't call a basketball game?  Truly awful every single night.  One trip is a phantom touch foul, the next a bogus charge, the next a missed hack on the arm.  Players get bailed out for bad offensive series time and again.  It's hard to watch.  Stern needs to hire like a retired general and give him independent authority to clean up the culture that says the NBA protects stars and glamour teams.  It really undermines a game I would like to enjoy.
