Florida High Schools

Here is part of a Fraley article discussing the FL players.

Offensive tackle Sam Young, the Dallas Cowboys' sixth-round pick, is one of three players selected in the recent NFL draft out of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., St. Thomas Aquinas High School.

Aquinas has a rich football history that includes Michael Irvin, the Cowboys' Hall of Fame receiver. A former Aquinas quarterback chose baseball: former Rangers catcher Mike Stanley.

Five other high schools had two players drafted. That included two schools from Florida: Pompano Beach Ely and Pensacola Pine Forest. No Texas high school had more than one player drafted.

The state of Florida high-powered high-school system had the most players drafted overall with 34. Texas finished second with 26 high-schoolers selected, one more than California.
