Halladay

Great story in SI about Roy Halladay. I love reading about the greats and what makes them tick. He may be under-appreciated. Here are some stats from the story:

  • Since 2001 he has a winning % of .685 while his teams otherwise played .496 ball
  • In 2009 he faced 963 batters and went to a 3-0 count only 16 times
  • His .661 career winning % is 5th all-time among pitchers with 150+ wins
  • Since 2002 he has 46 complete games, more than 10 whole teams during that time

John alert: he is known for his killer workouts and I know what you'll think that means.

As far a I have found Halladay has maintained the same body build.

If you see the huge leg increase, veins and massive bulk increasing we can start to wonder.

Three things are my primary driver of questioning people.

1. Defying the aging process with increased performance later in life.

2. The body frame change. Small people becoming huge. Normal size or Large people becoming freakishly large.

3. If the performance changes drastically. Brady Anderson, Marion Jones, Barry Bonds and Lance Armstrong, Jason Giambi.

Sometimes we have to believe our eyes, if it does not make since when you consider that people have been excercising for 30 years. Something is probably amiss.

Shame on you.

I should have been able to write about my respect for Halladay's ability.
