Lincecum Historically

I did a little work trying to find comparables to what Tim Lincecum has done out of the gate in his career. Amazingly it's difficult to find anyone to stack up, although with more time you could probably find some. In the modern era, looking at the greats, only Seaver among righthanders came out in his first 3 years as strong as Lincecum. I looked at Palmer, Clemens, Maddux, Gibson, Marichal, Roberts, Feller and none of them had anywhere near his kind of success in their first 3 years. You have to go back to people like Alexander and Mathewson.

Lincecum 43-17 2.84 .717 W/L% .216 opp avg 1.14 hit+walk/inning 3.2 k/bb ratio
Seaver 57-32 2.38 .640 W/L% .223 opp avg 1.07 hit+walk/inning 2.8 k/bb ratio
Mathewson 64-47 2.27 .577 W/L% .225 opp avg 1.15 hit+walk/inning 2.4 k/bb ratio

My favorite pitcher in baseball.

I love the entire story and the non-traditional approach to the game.
His father will have my respect forever to recognition of the aspects of an individual gift.

His recognition of the bio-mechanics of his son if incredible.

You know how much I hate the slow traditional jump shot.
