Independence Bowl

I am still in shock about the evolution of this bowl game.
Tonight ended the conference tie-in with the SEC and Big 12. What a great
13 years.

Next year we will get the ACC and Mountain West. It is not the SEC vs Big 12, but better than I could have ever imagined.
(This year it would have been North Carolina vs BYU.)

Memories:
My first game was the the first Indy Bowl on Dec 13, 1976.
Robert and I sat in the South West Corner with no people anywhere around us and watched McNeese State Beat Tulsa in the last minute.

Biggest Shocker:
Notre Dame played LSU in Shreveport. I still cannot believe this happened.

My favorite game was the La Tech vs Maryland 34-34 tie.

My most memorable night was the Snow Bowl with Mississippi State and A&M. I had 2 tickets to the game, but I was on the par 3 golf course with Rusty playing under the lights in a snow storm, we were the only ones on the course. (Who else is stupid enough?) The other players and employees were all drinking at the 19th hole,and they left us alone to track the golf ball bounces in the snow.
It was such an experience that I blew off the game and watched the 2nd half on TV.

8-2 SEC over Big 12 Teams during contract. 9-2 overall vs each other.
The Indy Bowl always had a higher pick in the Big 12 than the SEC.
