A little draft research for today.......

From 1989 thru 1992, just 4 years, Dallas drafted into the organization: Aikman, Johnston, Stepnoski, Tolbert, Emmitt, Maryland, Harper, Dixon Edwards, Erik Williams, Lett, Larry Brown, Kevin Smith, Robert Jones, Jimmy Smith, Darren Woodson. Practically an entire starting lineup on both sides of the ball with lots of pro-bowlers.

Then from 1994 thru 2001, 8 drafts, they only produced the following real contributors: Larry Allen, Randall Godfrey, Coakley, Ellis, Flozell, Nguyen. That's less than 1 solid starter per year. Easy to see why we completely fell apart during those years.

Since 2002, 7 drafts, it's been hit or miss, but there has been significant improvement: Roy Williams, Gurode, Newman, Witten, James, Crayton, Ware, Spears, Barber, Canty, Ratliff, Hatcher, Spencer, Folk, Fasano, Felix J., Jenkins, Bennett, Choice, Scandrick, plus the free agent signing of Romo.

2008 shapes up great, but we still pay for big misses in early rounds like James Marten, Doug Free, Carpenter, Skyler Green, Jacob Rogers, Al Johnson. But I think most teams have those. We seem to be at least competent now and maybe better than that.
