Heisman Cont..

As for my definition of a Heisman candidate.
First you are right this is a really tough year to separate the people.

With the thought of "Outstanding Player" first.
(To me this encompasses more than stats and I believe that was the original intent.)

This brings Tebow to a level that the others can only dream about.
I do believe he is by far the most important player to his team among the nominees.
Tebow has done more for College Football than anyone since Staubach.

First the stats reflective of the teams they play on.
Texas is the only pass happy team in the group. The other teams had more yard rushing than passing.

% of offense.
Tebow-57%
McCoy-69%
Gerhart-36%
Ingram-32%
Suh - 12 sacks on a good defense. But I cannot give it to a Defensive Lineman unless his is bigger than the game. I am still unsure if he is better than Cody due to the Big 12 offenses lack of power up front.

% of TD's
Gerhart-36%
Ingram- 34%
McCoy-32.6%
Tebow-31%
The really interesting point is that Fla had more TD's than the other teams by far.
Fla 101-TX 92-Al 44-Stnf 50.

Tebow really did lead his team to more scores than anyone else against better defenses. Nebraska and Tx are good for the Big 12, but the Ala and Fla defenses are a different level of athlete. Check out the common opponents for Neb and Ala.

I still vote Tebow.
I hope McCoy wins, but I would vote Gerhart over Ingram.

Suh is good, but I agree with you his impact is less than the QB's.

I'm really surprised at the stat about Florida's total touchdowns. They seemed to have so many low-scoring ugly games this year.

I'll disagree with you about Suh and Cody. Cody will be one of those Jamal Williams type immovable run stuffers. Suh is as close to Sapp as we'll see. 300 pounds but agile, with an athletic advantage over most linemen he will face. In terms of just pure physical ability, he just abused people.

If he is as good as Sapp he is special.
I know Sapp was playing against the best athletes in America.
