Bama/Texas Final Thoughts

In my mind the game we all were waiting to see never took place. Once Colt got hurt, both teams totally changed their outlook and thought process. It became a game of weird adjustments on both sides. AL stopped playing until late in the game, while TX had to rely on a true freshman who took 26 meaningless snaps during the season. I truly wish we could have watched the 2 teams really play each other, but what we saw barely gives us a glimpse of what would have happened.

It's true that Texas' run stats were inflated during the season by their pass rush and sacks. They held AL to a stingy average-per-play, but still gave up 200 yards on the ground. TX showed they could stretch AL on the edge with their speed guys but we'll never know if they could have capitalized with Colt making some plays. Bottom line is I still think it would have been a contested game but we'll just never know and that is a true tragedy for the sport.

I'm with you that Saban is ahead of schedule and has more talent coming than what he had already. Scary. He's an amazing coach. You ask how could they beat Florida? Because Saban had the plan, and he had the ability to make AL believe they could do it. Those are the 2 ingredients, along with talent, that make a great coach, and he has all 3.
