LSU Defensive Decline -Saban vs Pelini.

Chad and I were discussing the Bama D vs Nebraska D.
I commented on the coaching difference as another reason why BAMA is better.
We decided to investigate the Pelini Reputation.

Key to Data:
=============
1st-Pt's per game allowed by LSU Defense cumulative.
2ND-PT's per game allowed versus SEC offenses.
3rd-The Difference in points allowed LSU Defense in SEC games only vs SEC average Points per game of that year.
*********No conference Championship numbers used.
---------------------
=====================
- DefPPG- SECPPG Dif vs SECAVG Coach
2003 11 - 11.2 (19.28) Saban
2004 17.1 - 16.4 (8.2) Saban
2005 14.2 - 14.2 (9.6) Pelini
2006 12.6 - 16.4 (9) Pelini
2007 19 - 26.9 (3.1) Pelini
2008 24.2 - 31.5 (-7.3) *combo for Miles- Negative vs SEC
2009 16.2 - 18.8 (9.3) Chavis

-------------
This really shows how much the quality has dropped in Baton Rouge since Saban left.

Appears that Pelini was losing the edge for LSU in the SEC before he left. It was getting worse with the increasing time gap away from Saban's coaching and recruiting.

(This year Saban and the Alabama Def allowed 10.1 ppg, 10.6SECppg= 17.56 difference)

Comparing TEX, Al, and Nebraska showed the two conferences average the same 28pts per game on offense, both conferences are averaging 25pt a game in Bowls. (Ignore the Big 12 hype for being high scoring.)
Nebraska Defense is great at 11.4 with a 17 pt difference vs. Big 12 competition.
Texas Difference is really good 9.9.

Does anyone really think that Nebraska has the same Athletes on D that Pelini had at LSU or Saban has at Alabama?
