Basketball - Scott Skiles

I am on my way to the Bossier Tourney and thought a little history was needed.
Jay T who grew up in Michigan reminded me of one of my favorite things to witness.

Dateline: Feb 1986
Michigan has Gary Grant, Antoine Joubert, Glen Rice, Roy Tarpley and are ranked 3rd in the nation. Grant is reportedly the best Defensive guard in America by a long shot.

Michigan State and Skiles at 6'1" with no player above 6'8" scores 40 on Michigan and Gary Grant with 15 of 20 shooting while taunting the Michigan Bench.
This is the game after putting up 45 at Minnesota. He averaged 7 assist and 5 rebounds a game. He was the best passer and shooter in the NCAA, who later set the single game assist record in the NBA.

Skiles was a jerk and was set to do 15 days in jail when the NCAA tourney was over. He was hated worse by fans than Laettner and frequently taunted the other teams bench by telling them what he would do and where he was going to shot from.
Alas, Michigan State lost in the tourney to Kansas when the officials literally robbed Michigan State with clock management.

Michigan Coach Bill Frieder was asked who the best guard combo in the country was.
The media thought he would pick his own combo.

Instead he says.
"You can take my walk-on and put him with Skiles and you'd have the best combination in the country"
