Southlake and Dodge definitely caused the passing change in Texas.
I use to love watching Harrell coach at Ennis roll through the yardage.

As usual, I have a little different slant on who helped changed High School football in the Southwest. I have never heard Dodge say what I am writing, but the time-line and the Southlake offense looked very familiar to me.

Evangel Christian Academy implemented the spread with a no-huddle offense and went all over TX and the south beating teams. When the Carter Cowboys were rolling through TX teams, they invited this Evangel to Dallas. A blow-out ensued, the famous Carter Coach said he would never play Evangel again.

Todd Dodge moved to Southlake after posting a losing record at his previous jobs.
He went 19-10 at SL, then implemented the no-huddle in 2002 and went 79-1.

By the way, Evangel won the mythical National Championship the year Dodge arrived in Souhlake. Dodge won 3 NC's in his last 5 years.

Texas Football passed La football around 2000 and never looked back.
