NFL Tease on OT

I see where the NFL is considering a change on OT for the playoffs only.
It would shock me if they admitted their mistake on the process after all of these years.

Why don't they just ditch the OT in the regular season all together.
Then they save the players and can have a real overtime when it matters.
Tie Breakers are already set so the the regular season to determine league rankings.

My suggestion on OT:
Each team starts on the opponents 50 yard line. No more FG's without a 1st down like college.
Each teams picks the direction they want to travel, this avoids a wind or dirt field advantage.
Each team will have to go for the two point conversion after a touchdown.

I'm sure there are better ideas, but this would be fun to watch.
