Texas UIL Re-Alignment

Texas announced re-alignment today for the next 2 school years. A few interesting notes:

  • The Lewisville schools, Lewisville High, Hebron, Flower Mound, and FM Marcus were put in District 8 with Allen and the 3 Plano schools. That will be tough sledding now for Allen.
  • Denton Guyer moved up to 5A and will have to tussle with Southlake and Coppell in District 7.
  • Longview moved back up to 5A and will be in with DeSoto, the 3 Mesquite schools, and Tyler Lee. John Tyler is moving down to 4A.
  • Wylie moved down to 4A and are in with Highland Park. Wylie will be tough in 4A.
  • Two Mansfield schools moved up to 5A and go in with Cedar Hill & Duncanville and the Irving schools moved to District 6 with Colleyville & Trinity.
  • There was a rumor that Lincoln would move down to 3A, where they would make basketball a foregone conclusion. But they ended up remaining in 4A.

I was surprised to see DeSoto with the East DFW teams and Tyler. I bet that administration is not happy with traveling to the Piney Woods.
Especially considering the addition of the two Mansfield schools. Why not send them East and keep the rivalry with Duncanville.
